Found this list online today. Shows Renaultsport cars have a very good average out of five stars compared to other makes for all round performance value. Shows both current and 'Classic' Renaultsport cars such as 5 GT Turbo and Clio Williams. Also an interesting column showing BHP per tonne. One comparison stands out: MINI Cooper S 143BHP/Tonne. Clio 182 168BHP/Tonne Clio 182 Cup 171BHP/Tonne. The upshot of this:

You hve to buy a John Cooper Works (JCW) upgrade for your standard MINI Cooper S to give it 174BHP/Tonne thus making it more powerful than a standard Renaultsport Clio 182 - plus You Save A Fortune with the Renaultsport Clio 182, residual (used) values are pretty good with the Renaultsport car too!

I do wonder if it's worth losing the Leather/Alcantara seats, Climate Control and Cabasse 160Watt HiFi to make up only 3BHP/Tonne with a Renaultsport Clio Cup (Lightweight car). I might be inclined to change the air filter for a free-flowing performance element and scrap the factory exhaust in favour of a lighter more gas flowed system - and save the spec! (Also the higher spec 'Cup Packs' car is more desirable second-hand.
