Concerned About Your Clio Trophy Warranty?

Those people who bought Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophys who are also aware that they are fitted with a very well made and competent set of Sachs Competition dampers may be resting a little uneasy now that the Renault UK warranty has begun to expire. Most of the Clio 182 Trophys were registered between May and October 2005, with a handful registered in 2006, so some cars are already out of warranty.

Since few have caused a problem to date, many owners are unaware that in fact Renault ceased to cover the Sachs dampers after two years had expired. However, the majority of owners who have complained have had theirs replaced under warranty in the third year.

But what of the future? Since these parts were fitted as standard components at the factory, Motorplan cover them under their warranty. We supply a Motorplan Platinum cover warranty with a £1000 claim limit with all our used Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophy sales, and whilst this is not quite as much as an individual component, currently £1200, it goes a long way towards one. It is possible however, to increase the claim limit to £2500 which is ample to cover this component. But if you're not buying a used example, you can buy this warranty directly via our website. From twelve to thirty six months coverage is available and full details are available. To validate the warranty the car requires a full service history, if not, a service prior to purchase will suffice. These warranties are also transferable, which will assist should you wish to sell the car privately in the future.

Nothing has more head turning per pound value than a mark two Renaultsport Clio V6 255. This limited run development of the original Renault Clio V6 gained a further 25 BHP but more importantly, build by Renault themselves to a much higher quality at the former Alpine factory at Dieppe. Only 325 of these were produced for the UK, and it's rumoured that only 225 remain, with many having been written off by over-zealous owners. Only 325 Clio V6 255 were produced in right hand drive and taking a look at it's direct predecessor, the Renault 5 Turbo, another mid engined supercar from the 1980's, these are going to be a very good buy in the long term. King Of Hot Hatches

Two years and a new replacement model later the 2005 Renault Clio 182 Trophy model remains the undisputed 'King Of Hot Hatches'. In comparison road tests, the only car that is it's equal front-wheel-drive-wise is the Honda Integra DC2 Type R which is front wheel drive, but a Coupe and not a hatchback. It was also considerably more expensive new and offers an almost identical power to weight ratio (PTW). In fact the Clio 182 Trophy weighs in with a PTW ratio similar to the much sought after Integra DC5 model.

The reason for it's pre-eminence? As standard factory fit Sachs Race Engineering High Performance Dampers on all four corners, Recaro Trendline half leather and Alcantara front seats as well as Speedline Corse Turini alloy wheels which are lighter than the Cup alloys they replace and improve the unsprung weight on each corner.
